The Alamo Mission Chapter, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Amanda Fenley Webb and James E. Webb, Jr. Memorial Grant is an annual $50,000 grant established to support projects that preserve, educate, and inspire a deeper appreciation for Texas history.
Funding is available for initiatives in education, preservation, research, and the arts that increase public understanding, encourage community engagement, and celebrate the diverse people, places, and events that have shaped Texas.
Through this grant, the Alamo Mission Chapter invests in meaningful projects that educate, inspire, and preserve the story of Texas for generations to come.
Honoring the Legacy of Amanda Fenley
Webb and James E. Webb, Jr.
The Amanda Fenley Webb and James E. Webb, Jr. Memorial Grant honors a mother and son whose dedication to the Alamo Mission Chapter continues to benefit Texans today.
Amanda Fenley Webb, a Past President of the Alamo Mission Chapter, devoted her leadership to advancing the chapter's mission of preserving Texas history and inspiring future generations.
Her son, James E. Webb, Jr., faithfully served the chapter for many years as its legal counsel. Through his extraordinary generosity, he left a portion of his estate to the Alamo Mission Chapter with a clear vision—that the funds remain in Texas and be used to educate, preserve, and promote the history of our state.
Today, the Webb Memorial Grant carries that vision forward by supporting projects that strengthen communities, encourage historical scholarship, preserve significant resources, and expand public appreciation for the rich and diverse story of Texas.
2026 Inaugural Grant Recipients
In June 2026, the Alamo Mission Chapter proudly awarded the first Amanda Fenley Webb and James E. Webb, Jr. Memorial Grant, marking the beginning of a lasting investment in preserving and sharing the story of Texas.

Both organizations exemplify the Webb family's vision by creating educational opportunities and preserving the people, places, and stories that continue to shape Texas.

Eligibility
Applications are welcome from:

Texas-registered nonprofit organizations in good standing and recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Public, private, and charter K–12 schools.

Accredited colleges, universities, and postsecondary educational institutions.
Applicants should propose projects that advance Texas history through education, preservation, research, or the arts while demonstrating a meaningful benefit to the public.
